Oxygen-ozone therapy it is a gentle technique that uses ozone, combined with oxygen, which then stimulates and increases the protective mechanisms against the production of free radicals, reducing toxic substances in the cells. It is considered a “natural” type of therapy precisely because it makes use of these two elements that are present in nature and allows us to intervene quickly and gently.
Baldi Dental Practice uses a machine to carry out this type of therapy called the Kavo Heal Ozone, which works by producing ozone, that in turn activates circulation in all tissues encouraging oxygen to be released. This then stimulates their regeneration and carries out various actions: analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, immunomodulating.
Ozone therapy has been used for some time in dentistry. The dentist will assess its use on a case-by-case basis, as we must highlight that it can only be beneficial if at early stages of tooth decay. This basic requirement will allow us to treat the tooth decay on surface of the tooth, encouraging it to regress or in any case stopping bacteria from developing any further.
It is also used in
endodontics
(root canal treatment)
and in
dental implantology,
drastically reducing any risks that may be caused from the operation. It helps in disinfecting treated surfaces, including surgically. The oral irrigator system with added water is also valuable help in the most common operations that dentists carry out on a routine basis, such as professional
scaling and root planing, tartar removal and treatments to cure pyorrhea. It can also be used to solve other mouth problems, such as the presence of
hypersensitive tooth necks, cold sores, canker sores,
etc. Ozone therapy helps sterilise the treated area, which regulates levels of inflammation even in patients with more complex problems. The treatment is completely painless and without side effects.
Kavo HealOzone produces ozone by converting ambient oxygen. A vacuum pump sucks the ozone and directs it in a controlled, localised and safe way to the tooth to be treated, through a sterile silicone cup. The ozone is produced autonomously by the device, without the need for any external recharge. The ozone that is produced in the oral irrigator is equal to 50 mg / h at 20 ° C and HR 70% with a flow rate of about 12 l / h (0.2 l / min). It is an absolutely harmless dosage for humans but effective for its purposes.
