The term Restorative Treatment means any procedure which is aimed at preserving or reconstructing dental tissue. Teeth may deteriorate for various reasons:
Teeth decay is an infectious and degenerative disease - which tends to get worse as time passes - it affects the hard tissues of the tooth, i.e. enamel and dentin, destroying them. It is a bacterial infection, and is caused when the balance between the bacterial flora in the oral cavity and the body's defences alter.
As it is a bacteria, this make us mistakenly think that it has nothing to do with our habits, our dental hygiene, or our diet. This is not the case.
Among the main causes, we actually find poor oral hygiene and also eating food which is acidic, fatty and / or rich in refined sugars which do nothing but create the ideal conditions for the development of a cavity which will suddenly get worse.
Another cause of cavities can be caused due to a variance between the upper and lower dental arches, which makes it easier for plaque deposits to build up that are difficult to remove by cleaning ourselves, precisely because of bad teeth positioning.
We can also look at what our saliva is made up of. It is a natural detergent, and can cause bacterial attacks that lead to cavities, when the PH is altered, in some cases, encouraging the spread of a tooth decay-causing bacterial flora.
The objective of Restorative Treatment is any procedure that is aimed at the repair / restructuring of a tooth that is partially compromised. In summary, these are treatments could be either "fillings" or " reconstructions” that have been added to the services offered by more stylish and sophisticated dental practices which are also interested in the aesthetic look, inlays and veneers.
